Does your child have difficulty sitting still? Does your child have trouble getting going in the morning? Does your child get overwhelmed easily? Does your child have big changes in their energy levels throughout their day? If so, this group could be a great fit for your child!
Occupational Therapist, Jessica MacLean, and Registered Provisional Psychologist, Bethany Mills, are excited to offer a group on self-regulation (i.e., our ability to stay calm and attentive). Through fun, hands-on, interactive activities participants will learn about different factors that impact their regulation (e.g., environment, thoughts, emotions and sensory input) as well as concrete tools to maintain that ‘just right state.’ We will use obstacle courses, music, art, and discovery games to help teach regulation strategies in a way that is exciting and engaging! Handouts will be sent home after each session so caregivers can help support further practice and development of skills covered in group sessions. The outcome of this group will be to increase participants’ ability to understand and regulate their every day experiences. This group is intended for youth who experience challenges in maintaining an optimal state of regulation throughout their day. This group may be covered by your Insurance or Extended Health Plan.
This group runs August 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 2019.
